    F/A-18 At Boeing Field Today

While at the range today had the pleasure of watching / hearing some F-18's do some touch and go. No markings on them from what I could tell. Also saw P-8A flying around. Anybody know why the F-18's may have been in town?

    Possibly this:

Lots of them at NAS Whidbey Island now. They are replacing the EA-6B.

They were EA-18G Growlers at Boeing Field for some software updates and hardware tests.

I was out shooting in Darrington today, saw 3 low flying jets just absolutely hauling ass, all within a 5 minute spread. Flying north, no visible markings and going FAST. The last one did a few barrel rolls before dropping behind a hill. Pretty awesome!

That's one downside of the cold war being over, much less interceptor and fighter action over civilian areas.

I saw those three jets coming in for landing at Boeing last night around 6 after doing some fly overs. Man were they loud. I was coming north on I5, and stuck in traffic due to an accident, heard them, rolled down the window and watched. What a cool sight...

What time were you shooting in Darrington? I was shooting there today too, around 12-2.

I thought I recognized that sound... When I lived in St Louis, I worked for an IT contractor who did a ton of business with the StL Airport Authority, and our offices were at the end of the runway that abuts what was then a McDonnell-Douglas F/A-18 assembly line. They'd take those things out for a spin before delivering them to Patuxent NAS. I can't tell you how many times I got to see one of them sumbitches point straight up and punch on the burners. Car alarms galore whenever they pulled that stunt, that's for sure...
