Ever seen a colt like this before?

Bullseye in Tacoma has one of the colt detective specials with a factory shrouded hammer from 1957. $700. Not sure if that is a fair price, but dam, I thought it was cool as hell. If I had the funds I would definitely try to find a nice one.

If it weren't for the gutter, my mind would be homeless.

That's a fair price. The shroud is worth $177 on it's own.

Looks like an aftermarket Waller & Sons hammer shroud...they were popular back in the day.

Found a place that claims to sell them for $35. Don't know if they're still made or not though.

Looks factory Colt to me in that picture. Lighting is a bit off, but the shape looks right. Should have a Pony stamp on it if it's Colt. Also, the screw holes on the frame should be finished inside, and not look like freshly cut threads done after the bluing process.

I didn't even know the factory made those. I'd learned about them (the aftermarket ones anyways) with S&W's....not a Colt guy ;) I'll keep that piece of trivia in my kit bag though.

The Colt differs from the W&S in a few areas. The two biggest are the pony stamp and the shape. One the colt part, the transition from the two parallel flat surfaces is more rounded, where the W&S is more angular. Near the rear, the Colt will have a slightly more 'tear drop' shape than the W&S as well.

This pic is just off the internet. The one at the shop is original.
