I have purchased all my guns over the past ten years of marriage by calling them "trades". It's better this way, to her it's a wash and I've spent nothing.

example..."Honey, I sold my Nagant so I'm using that money to by an AR"

Truth as you know it, I did use that money, but it took some more money. But to her a Nagant might as well be an AR, it makes no difference, one for one.

She never wants to admit her memory isn't as good as mine.

The last one I told her about, the way I do that is to slowly withdraw $20-$40 at a time from ATMs over the course of a few weeks. Then when I actually make the purchase, she will only see a much smaller withdraw. She is convinced I bought my SPP for only $95. She is clueless. That's the one benefit of having a wife that has no interest in my hobby.

Can't be too rare, I did this exact thing with a gun I got off of SGN earlier this year. Been saving my pennies and sold a little silver when it was still $35/oz.

This only works if you have a decent collection. If you have one or two guns and she's aware that you do, it ain't gonna work.

If it's a trade or sell & use cash to buy something else, no sweat I'll tell her all about it. Under the radar purchases, that's different.
Douché: Pronounced "do-shay" and used like "touché", but in reply to something done or said that's utterly douchetastic e.g. "Wow, you went and did a selfie in the spray tan booth. Douché!"
