    Lady Shooter from Tacoma

I'm new here and new to firearms. I learned to shoot with my dad when I was a kid but I didn't shoot for many years until I received a Springfield XD subcompact 9mm for Christmas from my husband. I can't say I'm 100% happy with it but it sparked a passion that I had long forgotten. I took my Basic Pistol course, joined Tacoma Rifle and Revolver Club and get out to the range as often as possible. I also have a 1953 Colt Woodsman that my dad gave to me a couple months ago and I love it. It's actually the first gun I ever shot when I was six years-old and was a very cool gift. It's saving me a ton of money, too.
I'm looking forward to learning as much as I can. I don't know all the proper lingo and terminology but I'm a quick study. I'm taking as many classes as I can and am looking forward to the Personal Protection in the Home class I'm signed up for at the end of the month.
I'm not into politics but I do believe that we all have the right to keep and bear arms. My CPL should be arriving any day now and I'm trying to decide what would be my best carry gun. I definitely need to shoot a few more pistols before I make my decision but I am always open to suggestions.
I'm glad I found this forum and look forward to meeting you guys!

Thank you! This is one that I was looking at. Just need to find a place to 'sample' some pistols...

Before I chose the Shield, I weighed it heavily against the Springfield XDS (9mm or .45). Of course this was before the XDS recall. Aside from the recall, I still believe the XDS to be another good option to choose from.

As a northerner I frequent Norpoint for some range time. They have many pistols for sampling there, friendly helpful staff, and a well stocked gun shop. May be a bit out of your way though. I have always been envious of the SGN members from the Seattle/Tacoma area because they have so many more choices for gun shops and ranges than us Northerners. I am certain there are some members on here that can point you to a good place in your area to sample some good EDC pistol options.

I'll be curious to hear what you end up with. Keep us posted.

We do have several ranges down here but not many that seem very safe which is why I chose a membership-only range. I've heard Marksman and Bullseye have rental guns to sample but I've heard nothing but scary stories about Bullseye. The guys at my range are very helpful and let me shoot their pistols but most of the time that I go shoot, I am the only one on the pistol range.
I have thought about the XDS since I am familiar with the XD but again, I just need to shoot one :)

    Welcome aboard.

How are women and tornadoes alike?
They both moan like hell when they come, and take the house when they leave.
