    Post This Forum..

K, so I've sat back and watched this for some time now. - & so have a lot of you.

Today there is barely 15 posts since this morning. Not even 20 posts a day.

I know this isn't going to be popular, and maybe this thread will be locked & tossed but I'm going to say it.

This forum has been dying for some time now as a result of bad decisions.
The dwindling number of users on this forum is a direct result of those decisions

Not to be lost, the strangely popular trolls allowed to run rampant drove people away too. Sadly this forum is unique in that way, for the wrong reasons.

When I first joined this forum It was somewhere between busting and maybe on a barely noticeable decline.

I used to check every day, and there sure was some good deals to be found here & there. Now this place is a literal ghost town. A chunk of this forums downfall could be attributed to greed, stubbornness & inexperience.

At what point will the remaining people wake up, 10 posts a day? Don't think it will happen? - Don't care & just want to see it die? Okay great.

Why not just give it up, and offer it for sale? Its value is hardly about to make an upward swing so maybe now is a good time. Take the loss, save what remains. Give some one else a chance, move on.

    Thanks

I'll place my blame with 594

594 sure as hell didn't help - but in saying that, running up to 594 people had noted it could have a larger impact here. It did, and continues today. This has been a combination of things, 594 being one of them, but certainly not all.

I place some blame on 594 too. It was an almost exact timing when the law was enacted and the forum slowed down.

Some posters seemed like too much for the mods so they left. Willingly or not.

As for the pay membership thing. It definitely doesn't help when the forum is slowing down.

Problem is, no local GUN forums aside from Armslist really have many guns listed on them anymore free or not.

I'd say damn near 75% of the threads are just full of chatter. 594 is what put a major damper on buying for me outside of shops, I enjoyed meeting random guys at the Kent Winco parking lot at all times of the day. lol

If your so concerned with the site and so called bad decisions, then let me know what you feel they are and how to improve the site. You took the time to post this thread which I appreciate, but give me some input, you obviously care enough or wouldn't have posted.

There was some severe performance issues with the site late last year, to which I had no idea how bad they were, but hired a company to fix the site issues and get it performing well again. If you feel greed is an issue, than you don't know me very well, as that is not who I am. I will admit to inexperience and stubborn at times, but do my best to always learn more and be more open minded.

594 has definitely had an impact on the amount of firearms for sale on the site, many are weary and don't want to mess around with the hassle of the new laws, which is a shame to see. I miss all the ads and deals myself.

This is your forum guys! You make it run, grow and flourish! If you want activity start posting, there is a just about a forum for everyone here and if there isn't, let me know what you would like. If you guys don't speak up, than I am likely to not know, what you like or want.
I am here for you guys, as well as the staff, just let us know what you might like to see.

Whenever there is a problem, ask yourself what can you do to be part of the solution? What are you doing to make this site a better place? What are you doing to make sure new folks are coming here to add their comments?

Thanks for sharing your concerns as it is important to address problems, but I have some questions as a member.

Which decisions are you talking about? Decisions by admin? Decisions by members? Decisions regarding policies?

The forum did get a face lift that was difficult to work with at first, but I nothing has really changed. There are still dedicated men and women on here that love being a part of SGN. So, I'm just trying to understand what you believe has been the downfall of SGN?

    I blame obama.

Straight up, people will always come and go.

How would you suggest getting rid of trolls? It sounds like there are limited admin on SGN and it would be hard to police the entire site all the time. Reality is, trolls will be around long after we die.

But if members are leaving because of trolls, then that's a pretty weak reason. We are at war with the socialist democrat elites over our gun rights, and running away from a gun forum is pretty pathetic. Use the trolls to better your arguments.

Greed - When it comes to ammo, firearms, and good stuff we need, we are all considered greedy. That's just a free market society
Stubbornness - I shouldn't really have to get into this topic, but.... WE ARE ALL AS STUBBORN AS A FAT TICK ON A LAZY DOG IN SUMMER. Telling a man NOT to be stubborn is as easy as trying to breathe air on the ocean floor. Not happenin.
Inexperience - At one point, we were all considered SGN virgins. With the spike in new virgins, it's easy for inexperience to run rampant. Have patience and grace with the noobs and continue to work on yourself.

I don't mean to rip your post apart, but in order for us to understand what you are talking about, you gotta give more details.

    Re: This Forum..

I noticed the dropoff after 594. I remember how busy it was back in 2013 also after the gun grab attempts really got going. I don't see new membership increasing a lot unless 594 goes away. I just don't see a massive amount of people locally frequenting the site without the simple way of buying and selling. If they feel they have to fo to an FFL, most people will just go buy new and not deal with private sellers.
