    New guy from Redmond

    Good Morning all,

I am a new guy to the forums but not to gun ownership. I am a chiropractor in the Redmond area and have lived here for 4 years. I grew up in a small town in Idaho and have been shooting my entire life. I learned handgun shooting on a Smith and Wesson 629 4 inch in 357 mag and my first rifle was a M77 featherlight in 270. I enjoy all sorts of shooting and firearms. Some of my current favorites in my collection are a Daniels Defense DDM4V11, and two Smith and Wesson X frames a 460 XVR that's 8 3/8 inch and a 500 mag in 4 inch and Tikka Superlight 300 win mag with Zeiss optics. I am from the school of thought of "if big is good, more bigger is better" haha. I am an avid hunter, target shooter, and love anything firearm related.

    Cheers,

    ben

    Welcome Ben. Nice introduction.

Question: how is the felt recoil on the Tikka Superlight? (on a slightly separate note, that Tikka T3X really catches my eye these days)

I bought one of the lightest stainless 300 win mags that I could find for elk hunting. With the Zeiss 3x15x50mm on it weighs less than 7 pounds. Felt recoil is high, especially when pushing 220 grain rounds. The rifle was built for use while elk hunting so I put up with it. Not something that would be enjoyable to shoot 50 rounds at the range, but a FANTASTIC hunting rifle. The super light has a fluted barrel and weight like 6ish ounces less. I got it mainly because I like the look of the flutes. 100% love the rifle and the round.
