Red dot sight on EDC - Yea or Nay?

Due to my farsightness I don't see iron sights anymore.
Cyber monday is coming, so I was considering buying micro red dot for my EDC.
However, I have zero experience in using red dots on pistols.
Few days ago I stopped by Rainier Arms and had an opportunity to play a litle with red dot installed on P320.
I have noticed that it was very difficult for me to find the dot.
This might hold me up from going this direction, because the whole point for me is to have the ability of quick target acquisition.
    Any thoughts?
    Thanks in advance!

It does take some practice/training with the red dot to make it easy to acquire your sight picture. The way I trained myself to easily acquire the red dot sight picture was to simply act as though I were attempting to align the front and rear iron sights when presenting the weapon. In this manner, the red dot would always appear before I could actually align the front and rear irons and at that point I would just let the red dot take over. If you practice presenting the weapon as though you were going to align the irons, the red dot will pop into view quicker and quicker as you get more skilled.

I don't think there is anything wrong with EDC'ing a pistol with a dot sight as long as:

    A. You can still conceal carry it comfortably and discreetly.
    B. You have co-witness iron sights as back up in the event technology fails you, ie. battery dies, parts break.
    C. You become comfortable with your ability to use the dot sight

Additionally, I think there are benefits to using a dot sight over iron sights:

    A. Properly trained, you can achieve a sight picture with a dot sight quicker than you can with iron sights.
    B. The ability to shoot the dot sight with both eyes open greatly enhances your peripheral vision.

Thank you very much for the advise about aligning!
I am going to give it a try. Hopefully I will find some good deal on Fastfire III - this is what I can install on my PMR-30 without any modifications, since Kel-Tec makes mount plates for Burris.

It's not for being tacticool. Moreover, I don't like the idea of increasing cost and weight of my EDC.
However, like I mentioned above, I cannot see iron sights with my bare eyes anymore, because I'm farsighted. But I can clearly see the holographic dot.

If used in self defense, it just one more thing you have to defend yourself about. Explaining things to juries doesn't always go the way you like.

It's my belief that the closer to "stock" your EDC is, the better. Slick it up internally, but let it look like you "bought it off the rack".

Again, stock configuration (iron sights) is useless for me. Furthermore, using "stock" protection device could be not safe for innocent bystanders since I will not be able to aim accurately. Obtaining proper tool for protection - why should it look bad in jury's eyes?

Have Punisher logos on your 1911 stocks?

You think a jury of your PEERS are going to be all gun fantatics like us?

Anything that makes you look combative or that you were looking for trouble is something I avoid on my EDC's.

Think of it....the EVIL RED DOT SIGHT!!!! ITS LIKE A LASER, and it is INTENDED TO HELP KILL PEOPLE! The defendant KNEW he was going to KILL. IT was on his MIND when he shot poor little Willie Jones.

Uh uh. Not me. Keep it simple.

And who the fuck cant hit center of mass on a human being at distances using standard type sights, where you will be using a handgun for self defense?

Mas Ayoob might not be available when you go to court.
